This week’s question is suggested by Island Editions:
Do you have a favorite book, now out of print, that you would like to see become available again?I am afraid that at this very moment, I cannot think of one. There certainly have been books I have wanted to read that are out of print, but none I can count as a favorite since I have not ever read them. Usually when I come across a book I would like to try that is no longer available, my first stop is Amazon.com to see if someone is selling it used. I also make an effort to search the local used bookstores and perhaps other internet resources.
Amy tagged me for the Five Things Meme, and so I thought I'd play along now since my Booking Through Thursday response leaves a lot to be desired.
5 Things I was doing 10 years ago:
1. Planning my wedding.
2. Choosing the material and bead work for my wedding dress.
3. Settling into my new job and life outside of school.
4. Working long hours.
5. Finishing the last of my Christmas shopping.
5 Things on my T0-Do List today:
1. Remember to pack and take lunch with me to work. (I still forgot.)
2. Train the new supervisor.
3. Meet with my manager for my individual conference. (My manager ended up canceling, deciding she wants to take me out to lunch later in the month.)
4. Get Christmas gifts ready so that my husband can take them to the post office tomorrow to mail.
5. Go to bed early.
5 Things I would do if I were a millionaire:
1. Remodel my house.
2. Make sure my "new" house has a nice cozy library.
3. Put away for retirement.
4. Buy my husband the top of the line gaming computer.
5. Hire a professional landscaper to completely redo the yard.
5 Things I'll never wear again (or have never worn):
1. Spiked heels
2. Footie pajamas
3. A bikini bathing suit
4. A lampshade
5. Saran wrap
5 Favorite Toys:
1. Books
2. My computer
3. DVDs
4. Cribbage board
5. Feather duster
If you have not yet played along, consider yourself tagged!
Hey Wendy! Like you, I will first go to the used bookstores if I can't locate a book; there were a few occasions that I managed to find them there.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your answers to the five meme. We shared the same answers for #1 & #3 under the "5 Things I'll never wear again(or have never worn)". ;)
Hope you have a great weekend.
I want a library, too!! Oh man, if I were a millionaire that'd be on my top 5 list, too.
ReplyDeleteI like this meme!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I find net is a great place to find old books. And used bookshops.

Haha! The lampshade and the Saran lamp made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteA home library will be going on my list too! :)
oops! That should've read Saran wrap! :)
ReplyDeleteDo the lampshade and saran wrap share a common story? Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteHa! great answers! Thanks for playing Wendy!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky you can get your husband to go to the post office. I pulled post office duty this year...urgh! I'd rather stick knitting needles in my ears. :P
ReplyDeleteThat's cute! I'll have to do it.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, you must love where you live if you'd remodel/relandscape instead of moving.
ReplyDeleteThere's a book I'm trying to find for my husband, and I can't tell if it's not widely available in this country or if it's out of print. It was a book he loved as a child, The Ghost of Thomas Kempe. Have to keep looking!
Melody - I think I stopped wearing a bikini when I was about 4 years old. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great weekend too!
Nikki - A library is definitely a must in my dream house. :-)
Gautami - Yes, the internet is a great source for finding hard to find books and other items. :-) What did we do without it?
Tanabata - I am not sure why they popped into my mind when making my list, but they did. Haha
Jaimie - I'll never tell. ;-)
Amy - Thank you for tagging me!
Kookie - It was the least he could do for me since I promised him I wouldn't take the day off with him so he could do his Christmas shopping. :-)
Ladytink - I hope you will! I'd love to read your answers. :-)
Dewey - Oh, I wouldn't mind remodeling the entire neighborhood to be honest. Or moving out of it. But I figure I'd rather have more money later so I can retire early and travel than buy an entire new house and take a loss on the one I have (since it would need to be remodeled before it would sell probably). Practical thinking. :-)
Have you tried Amazon.com for the book? They have sellers who are offering used copies.
I got my wish about this early in the week with the upcoming reprint of The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread by Don Robertson. Yay!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, I forgot to list BOOKS as toys in the last category of the meme! How did this happen?... I really enjoyed reading your answers.
ReplyDeleteI used to order books from Amazon but shipping's not favourable... But if I have, I still do. They do have the widest choice, but I'm letting Kinokuniya do some work now. Hehe...
Have you worn saran wrap in the past or it just something you never hope to wear?!?
ReplyDeleteBybee - I'm so glad! It's great when that happens. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlice - Haha I suppose some people might not count books as toys.
Yeah, shipping can be expensive. I pay close attention to shipping myself, not wanting to end up paying too much if I can help it.
Rhinoa - Just something I never hope to have to wear. :-)
I truly enjoy reading your answers! The lampshade and Saran wrap had me laughing. Pray do tell *grin* ;)
ReplyDeleteI would have consider books as toys..great answers. I would love to someday built a library for my personal home too. I hope you've a good day :)
Julia - Haha They had me smiling a bit too. ;-)
