Compared to the month of April, I would say that the Book Binge was a huge success--at least in the way of getting me back onto my regular reading track.
No One Heard Her Scream by Jordan Dane
The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson
The Lost Prince by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro
The Arthurian Omen by G.G. Vandagriff
Down to a Sunless Sea by Mathias B. Freese
Admit One: A Journey Into Film by Emmett James
Killing Rommel by Steven Pressfield (review to come)
Okay, so the first two books do not really count because I read them before the Book Binge began on May 5th. I listed them anyway because a reading list for the month of May does not seem complete without them.
What was the best book you read this spring?
I have been singing the praises of Craig Johnson's The Cold Dish quite a bit lately, and so I am sure it comes as no surprise that the book was among my favorites this month. If it qualified for the Book Binge, it would have tied with Steven Pressfield's Killing Rommel, a historical novel set during the Second World War, which made quite an impression on me. The why will become clear when you read my review later this week.
What book could you have done without?
I have no regrets about my reading choices this month; except maybe that I did not make time to read more.
Did you try out a new author this month? If so, which one, and will you be reading that author again?
All seven of the authors were new to me. I especially am eager to read more by Craig Johnson and Steven Pressfield. Jordan Dane is another author I would really like to pursue further as well. If Emmett James decides to write another book, I would definitely be interested.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mary Poppins for hosting the Book Binge!

Thanks for visiting my blog last Tuesday. I love your site! I do wish our family rabbit Poppy was more of a reader. Then again, she has been known to curl up to lounge in bed with my nine-year old while she reads aloud parts of the Spiderwick Chronicles to her. See you again on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteAll of the authors are new to me too; and there're a few books that I'd like to read as well, especially Jordan Dane and Craig Johnson.
ReplyDeleteKaren - Thanks for stopping by! I'm always telling my cat and dog how lucky they are to be home all day while I'm at work--they're surrounded by books. They just stare at me. :-)
ReplyDeleteMelody - I think you would like both Jordan Dane's and Craig Johnson's books. I love discovering new others, but I hope to get back to some old favorites soon.
Great list of books! Other than Jordan Dane, the authors that you read are also ones that I have not read yet.
ReplyDeleteHey--no regrets is a great thing!! May was slow for me as well, but hopefully lazy vacation time will come soon (Hurry up vacation and get here!!!).
ReplyDeleteThank you, April and Trish!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a nice vacation, Trish. Mine is coming up in September, and I can't wait.
