Friday Fill In Fun

The sun came out from behind the clouds for a little while this afternoon, but it looks like she's back in hiding again. I think my oldest cat has the right idea--an afternoon nap! I have missed quite a bit these past couple of weeks, including all of you. I have been away from not only my blog (and yours) but my books as well, and my reading has suffered. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

This next month there is a lot to look forward to here at Musings of a Bookish Kitty. Book reviews, the next Page in the Life interview and a giveaway or two just for starters. Here's wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Happy Reading!

For this week's Mailbox Monday on Friday, I have one book to report:

Summer on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber

1. I'm praying for my husband's family, and all they have had to go through this past month; I'm hoping life begins to look up for them soon; with all that is going on, I've been reminded that I need to count my blessings every day.

2. Why do I have five dollars in my wallet and not the ten I thought I had?

3. How does this new remote control work, anyway?

4. Every morning, I put my trousers on one leg at a time.

5. I consider myself lucky because I have a loving husband who puts up with me even when I'm at my worst.

6. One day we’ll see a cure for Alzheimer's Disease.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to settling in with my book and reading until I fall asleep; tomorrow my plans include doing a little blog hopping and catching up on recorded TV shows; and Sunday, I want to spend the afternoon lost in a book in between the loads of laundry that must get done!

  10. Alzheimer's is such a horrible disease...I'm sorry your husband's family is going through this.

As for #5, you're lucky indeed! I could never find one ;-)

  11. I'm on board with your #6. As you may know, my mother died of early-onset Alzheimer's ten years ago, and I fund-raise for the Alzheimer's Association every year as a participant in the Memory Walk.

I've missed you! I'm so glad you're feeling better, but sorry it's been a rough time for your family. It's good to see you back, though :-).

  12. Alice - I missed you too, Alice. My husband and his family are holding up as well as can be expected. It's just been such a sad month for them all around. I hope you have a good weekend.

Janet - Thanks, Janet. Alzheimer's has touched both my husband's and my lives. It's a terrible disease.

My husband's family has had more than their share of tragedy this month. It's been one thing after another.

Florinda - Science is getting closer, however slowly. Getting Alzheimer's Disease is one of my big fears about growing older.

I've missed you too, Florinda. Hopefully things will start looking up for the family. We're all keeping our fingers crossed that everything goes well at court next month and that there aren't any complications. It's just one thing, but it's a start.

  18. I truly hope a cure for Alzheimer's Disease is found one day. I'm so afraid of getting it as my grandfather had it. I need to get caught up on my shows too but reading and movies are the only thing that can hold my attention at the moment.

  19. Wendy, I'm glad you are back and feeling better. My thoughts are with your husbands family as well.

My Mom had dementia caused by MS. I can relate to Alzheimer's. Both are slow cruel deaths.

Jen - Me too. My grandfather had Alzheimer's and my grandmother had dementia.

I hope you were able to get caught up a little on your shows this weekend. I do know the lure of movies and books though!

Kristy - Thank you so much. MS and dementia have hit my family as well so I know how difficult they can be. I do hope that researchers are able to find cures or vaccines to prevent these illnesses at some point in the future.
