I have not forgotten about Monday Movies with Sheri over at A Novel Menagerie. Be sure and stop by her blog for the latest in what others are watching. I have only seen two movies so far this month and will be posting my thoughts on them next Monday. In the meantime, I am back on schedule with the Monday Movie Meme, which is brought to you by The Bumbles. Be sure and stop by Molly and Andy's blog to see what other people have to say about today's topic!
This week's movie topic is all about The Movies You'd Most Like To Hang Out In . . .
I fell in love with the house in which Tom Hanks lives in Sleepless in Seattle. Maybe he'd be willing to sell it to me? Or perhaps he'd dump Annie for me . . . Such a romantic and sweet movie.
Oh, and what about that to die for library in the Beast's house in Disney's Beauty and the Beast? Wouldn't I love to have that for my very own? Or at the very least, become Belle's best friend, and we can spend hours together exploring the shelves. I would have to get over my fear of heights to climb up on that ladder though.
One of my favorite period movies is Pride and Prejudice. I don't care which one you throw me into (although the Colin Firth version is my favorite). I love the atmosphere and landscape of the films. And to sit and talk with Elizabeth Bennett would be such fun!
Because I already do it much to the chagrin of those around me, I think I would fit right in with the cast of Grease, breaking out into song at random moments. I already know all the songs. And I could finally have that much needed talk with dear Sandy.
I'd love to hear what movies you would like to hang out in for awhile!
Movies transport us to all different times and places and let us live in the minds of the young, the old, as men, as women, famous and imaginary. Sometimes when the lights come up it is hard to leave the world the film just inserted us into. If you could go and hang out in any movie, which would it be? Why?Lord of the Rings, most definitely. Such a beautiful world! I could have lunches one, two, and three with the hobbits and live amongst the elves (because in my Middle Earth, the world is at peace and the elves are still all around). Oh, and I could visit with Gandalf! We could talk about so many things and he could take me on many exciting adventures.

I love the movie Pride and Prejudice too, the Colin Firth version ofcourse :) In fact I have seen only one version and totally don't want to see any other :)
ReplyDeleteColin Firth does it for me too. Although the lastest Keira Knightley version isn't bad.
ReplyDeleteCount me among the Colin Firth as Darcy fans. And yes, the saddest part of LOTR is when the elves depart. It's time, I guess, but so sad.
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading along, the first movie that came to my mind was Grease. I absolutely love that movie and have always wanted to live in the 1950's. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'd pick Grease, but I wouldn't mind living in a musical. I share your habit of randomly breaking into song :-). And you're quite right about someone needing to have a talk with Sandy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would move to Hobbiton in a New York (New Zealand?) minute.
I've never really thought about a movie I'd want to live in, but there have been a few TV shows. I'm not really a small-town girl, but I'd make an exception for Gilmore Girls' Stars Hollow.
This was a fun post, Wendy!
I love, love the house in Sleepless in Seattle! It would be great if it could be transported!
ReplyDeleteSorry all, but we're keeping that houseboat here in Seattle (I love that movie too)! There are tours you can take to see it on Lake Union though ;)
ReplyDeleteWendy, I'm happy to climb up the Beauty & the Beast book ladder for you. I'm too tall as it is already!
first breakfast, and second breakfast, and snack then lunch, second lunch... Yes, I wouldn't mind having the metabolism to be able to eat as much as a hobbit :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd definitely love the library in Beauty and the Beast.
After reading Emma, I no longer have any desire to live in that time period. Maybe I'll perk back up with Northanger Abbey, but it just looked like too much work.
i would love to be in 'goonies'--i grew up in the 80s and that was my favorite movie!
ReplyDeletea more recent release that i'd love to hang out in would be any of the ocean's 11 films. the actors look like they are genuinely having a grand old time together!!! sign me up.
I loved Sleepless in Seattle!
ReplyDeleteI loved that house in Sleepless in Seattle, too!
ReplyDeleteI truly loved every single one you picked and for all different reasons!! My favorite would be P&P for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI echo all that you've said in this post, Wendy. The house, the library... Imagine sitting down and chatting with the characters. They all sound so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI too agree with all your choices. But I am curious about that talk you mention you'd like to have with Sandy and I'm wondering if it's at all similiar to the one I'd also like to have with her!
ReplyDeleteLove the Hobbits too! I love their circle doors...
ReplyDeleteViolet - Of course! :-) The more recent version of Pride and Prejudice does have some beautiful scenery though; I have to give it credit for that.
ReplyDeleteStacy - I enjoyed the Keira Knightley version too. It works well for those P&P cravings when time is short. :-)
Clea - Yes, it was time for them to go, but, oh so sad. They're such an interesting race. I would love to have been able to immerse myself in the elven culture. Of course, I still can, can't I? Considering their fictional and there are plenty of books in which I can do that. :-) How easy it is to think of them being real though!
Kristie - Wouldn't it be fun? And there were some good things about the '50's.
Florinda - Mama Mia would be good too. Living on an island would be perfect.
New Zealand is so beautiful, isn't it? A coworker of mine just moved there to be with her long-time boyfriend. I'm a bit envious, I admit.
I was telling my husband that too about the TV shows when I was thinking up movies. I could easily name TV shows. You know, I've never really watched Gilmore Girls. I've seen maybe two episodes.
Myckyee - I wouldn't mind living in Seattle--so the house can stay. It just has to have me in it. :-)
ReplyDeleteEagle Dawg - I may have to come up for a visit just to take a tour so I can see the house.
I'd love to have you join me in the Beauty and the Beast library, Nicole. You can read me the titles from up high. ;-)
Koolaidmom - Haha! Yes, I'd definitely need a better metabolism to keep up with those hobbits.
The time period that Jane Austen lived in and wrote about certainly has its drawbacks. I have to say though, I sure loved their dresses.
Nat - Goonies is a good one. :-) I liked that one too when I was younger.
The Ocean's Eleven film and the follow-ups were fun movies. I wouldn't mind hanging with those guys either. :-)
Yvonne - I can watch that movie over and over again, never getting tired of it. :-)
Carrie (B&M) - Imagine spending a rainy day in it. Curled up on the couch reading . . .
ReplyDeleteStaci - I had trouble picking any at first, but once I did, it was hard to stop at five.
Alice - That would be such a treat. I'd love to visit with so many of the characters from all the films.
Suey - Haha! I bet we would have a very similar talk with her indeed.
Lulu - Me too! And I probably wouldn't have to bend over too far to slip inside one of their houses. :-)
Funny that you mentin GREASE, because there were a two night marathon of GREASE 1&2 last weekend. And everytime I see GREASE 1, I sing along with it. I know the words *LOL* I love the movies and it never get old for me ;) :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on Lord of the Rings and Sleepness in Seattle! Love them both :)
Oh this is a good one... I'd love to hang out with in the film The Enchanted April. A gorgeous villa in Italy, reconnecting with yourself and making friends. What's not to love about all of that!
ReplyDeleteOoh good question! Okay... hard question too lol. Umm, I'd love to go hang out in maybe My Fair Lady, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Holiday Inn, Chocolat, Peter Pan (2003), oh and could I pick a TV series? Then that would be Buffy and Veronica Mars!
ReplyDeleteI really think I'd like to live in the future part of Back to the Future. I want a flying skateboard!
ReplyDeleteOklahoma. I know all the songs and the people'd be a hoot.
ReplyDeleteJulia - And I missed the marathon! I know all the songs by heart in the first movie and most in the second.
ReplyDeleteIliana - Ooo! That would be so lovely! Great choice!
Jen - Those are all wonderful choices, Jen. I could think of a few TV shows I wouldn't mind stepping into either. Veronica Mars would be so cool!
Lexi - That's a good one too!
Carrie (Patience) - Now you've got me singing the Can't Say No song in my head. LOL Oklahoma's a good one.
