Reintroduction (Part 4: 75-100 of 100)

The post in which I reintroduce myself. Did you miss Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3?

I don't like to eat oranges because I hate peeling them.

I don't eat tomatoes unless they are sauce. No chunks, please.

I like black licorice best.

But not when it's covered in chocolate.

I find chocolate covered caramel irresistible.

I have a bit a sweet tooth.

Okay, so I have a big sweet tooth.

Give me a choice, however, between a salty snack and candy, I'll pick the salty snack almost every time.

Just not when ice cream is being offered. Ice cream is always a yes, even on a rainy day.

Rainy days are my favorite days.

I like to people watch.

One of my pet peeves is tardiness.

But if you call me to tell me you are going to be late, I'm generally okay with it.

I tend to be a situationalist rather than an absolutist.

I might as well be an editor with the number of reports I read and correct on a daily basis.

The last thing I want to do when I get home from work every night is talk on the phone.

David Tennant made the best Dr. Who.

I don't know why anyone would want to sleep with a vampire. Brrr. Besides, doesn't that count as necrophilia?

My cat Anya was named after a demon from the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

My daughter was named after her Great-Great Grandmother and a close family friend, both admirable women.

I love the sound of my daughter's laugh.

I cried the first night we were supposed to put her in her own room to sleep. (She ended up staying in her bassinet that night after all.)

We tried again this weekend, only this time I was a big girl and didn't cry.

I wish my little girl didn't have to grow up.

And yet, I look forward to each and every moment of it. Almost.

  1. With each one of these, I have no doubt why we get along. No chunky tomato stuff! No orange peeling! Absolutely no lateness please! (If I am late, something is very wrong.)

  2. I love tomatoes and the chunkier the sauce the better.

You made me a little teary eyed when you wrote about your daughter. The time whizzes by, doesn't it?

  3. Speaking of chocolate covered caramel, the big thing now, it seems because of Obama's expressed interest, is adding sea salt to that combination. I bought an outrageously expensive tart like that (in the interest of political information, you know) and it was wonderful!

  4. David Tennet was the best Doctor Who, I agree totally. I also like salty snacks better than sweet ones, but like you, will prefer ice-cream every time! I don't like black licorice. I prefer the red.

  5. These days I live for the baby's laugh. It's magical, isn't it? And like you I wish every day that these moments could just last--I already see newborns and swear Elle was never that small, which I know isn't true. But, I do look forward to the growing up as well. I'm finding motherhood to be full of these complicated emotions--wishing and hoping for two different things at the same time.

I love these posts, Wendy. I know you've said 4 parts but I hope you'll continue to share with us.

  6. I like salty and sweet in the same thing - that's why Chubby Hubby is my favorite ice cream. Salty pretzel chunks that are filled with peanut butter and covered in fudge - in vanilla malt ice cream? Yes, please!

I love reading these posts and getting to know you even better. :)

  7. I had to laugh - I've got Doctor Who on in the background right now (a David Tennant episode of course). :)

I would choose sweet over salty almost ever time. Unless the sweet was marshmallows - yuck!

  11. Ice cream is always a YES for me too! It is the hardest thing for me to turn down when I am trying to diet.

  13. Ugh! I hate peeling oranges and my daughter absolutely adores them. She would eat one every day if we didn't run out at points :) And children's laughter is one of the most precious things!

  14. This is a great way to get to know you, Wendy. I love hearing about all your quirks and little things we don't get to see otherwise. I have to agree with you on the tomatoes - ketchup and tomato sauce are the only way this vegetable enters our house! Yaaay for Anya being named after a Buffy character! Interesting point about the vampire.

And - in our household, it's tied between David Tennant and Matt Smith for the best Dr Who. Matt Smith has the edge since my daughter likes the actor (her first tv crush!), but she would fly away with either of them, even Christopher Eccleston as the Dr. I think possibly it's the Tardis, kind of like a motorcycle for the mind :-)
