I'm like a teenager. My favorite food is pizza. Just a plain cheese and pepperoni pizza. I'm boring that way. I also like ice cream. And brownies. And pasta. Oh, cheese enchiladas too. A great snack might be a warm tortilla with melted butter and cinnamon. Or cinnamon toast fingers. Yum. I can't leave out chocolate, especially dark chocolate. None of foods are especially healthy, I know.

What is most rewarding about being a book blogger? (submitted by Elizabeth)
The most rewarding part of being a book blogger is being able to share all my bookish thoughts, eccentricities, and tidbits about life with all of you. Many of you know the reason I began my blog, in part, as a more public journal of my reading. Before I had only kept my notes to myself and sometimes shared them with my online book groups. I hadn't realized just how awesome a community of book bloggers was out there. Being able to interact with other crazed readers like myself is definitely my favorite part of blogging, and what keeps me hanging around. You have introduced me to books and authors I would not have known about otherwise. You understand my love for books like no one else in my life does, and you don't judge me when a book makes me cry like there was no tomorrow. You get my literary jokes and can appreciate my bookish quirks. I appreciate the time we spend together, both here on my blog and on your blogs or other forums where we can share in our love for books. A part of all of that too are the friends I have made through blogging. We support each other through difficult times in life--even those unrelated to books. So, for me, the most rewarding part of book blogging is being a part of such a great community.
What do you find the most rewarding about being a book blogger?

Wendy, I enjoyed visiting your blog today. The brownies look too delicious (and chocolate is actually good for us--yay!). I also enjoy greatly enjoy the built-in community of book blogging. :)
ReplyDeleteSuko - I am glad you stopped by. :-) I probably eat more chocolate than is good for me, but I try not to think of that.
DeleteI feel very lucky to be a part of such a great community. :-)
I'm like a kid with my eating habits also. Plus it's cheap and easy when you live alone. I should do a blog post comparing all the different brands of frozen pizza I've tried! Since you like enchiladas you'll love the recipe I shared.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth - Yes, cheap and easy is nice! I'd definitely be interested in a frozen pizza post if you do write one. :-)
DeleteOh, yes, I saved the link to your blog post so I can print it out at home and have my husband make it for us. It sounds delicious!
I like cheese pizza the best, just like my kids. Ice cream is another great food. My favorite is Mint Choc Chip, but I love plain vanilla and chocolate as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
My favorite thing about Book Blogging is about the same as your favorite. Getting to talk about all the book, and book love is awesome. I have made some good friends, too. I feel special getting to read books and review them prior to their publishing date.
Karen - Cheese pizza is my daughter's favorite too. :-) Mint chocolate chip is good! I don't really have a favorite ice cream. It changes. Maybe rocky road because I love chocolate and marshmallows. Oh, but then there's chocolate and peanut butter! So many good flavors out there. Too many. LOL
DeleteBook blogging certainly has many rewards, doesn't it? I love it.
Yum, pizza. Though as a non-meat eater my favourite is probably a fungi pizza as I love mushrooms. As for my favourite food .... That would have to be a veg and mixed bean lasagne or a nut loaf which is made with parsnips making it very moist both made by Mr T.
ReplyDeleteTracy -The veg and mixed bean lasagna you mentioned sounds good! I tend to prefer vegetarian lasagnas to ones with meat.
DeleteWendy, all your favorite foods are ones that love too. Cinnamon toast - it's been forever since I've had cinnamon toast. And what you love about blogging is what I love too. I'm always so happy to 'bare my soul' about my reading and have others figuratively nod their heads. The community feeling is lovely. Hope your cold is better!
ReplyDeleteKay - You should go make some cinnamon toast right now. Cut it into fingers. I try to get my daughter to try them, but she likes everything plain.
DeleteYes! It's such a nice feeling to be understood and have others know just what I'm talking about with all my bookish craziness. :-)
I have a feeling this cold will get worse before it gets better. I'm trying to keep it from getting worse though. The cough is definitely getting worse. :-(
Pizza definitely! And a good batch of brownies isn't half bad either... :)
ReplyDeleteGreg - I saw your post about pizza. :-) We should plan a pizza party with brownies!
DeleteI love pizza. And ice cream!
ReplyDeleteBeing a book blogger connects me with a reading community that I don't have in real life. The feeling of community goes beyond sharing information about books and promotes a feeling of friendship and interest in the lives of other readers. Elizabeth does a great job of covering the benefits!
Jenclair - Pizza and ice cream are the best. :-)
DeleteYes, I agree. I have developed friendships through book blogging and made connections with people I wouldn't have otherwise. It's a wonderful thing.
Oh man, those brownies look delicious! The best part of blogging for me has been the wonderful friendships I've made.
ReplyDeleteKathy - Don't they? Now I'm craving brownies. :-)
DeleteI have met so many wonderful people through blogging. As Jenclair said, it goes beyond just talk of books.
I definitely agree about the awesome book blogging community! This is really the first time ever that I've met a large group of people who really understand my more bookish leanings and it's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I'm not a huge pizza fan. I like it but it's not something I crave though those Lean Cuisine pepperoni pizzas (quality I know) are my go to if J's out of town and I'm just cooking for me and the Tornado. I'm a cheeseburger fan myself. Have you read Delancey by Molly Wizenberg? It's fantastic and all about her husband figuring out his pizza recipe and opening his restaurant. I was seriously craving pizza after that book!
Katherine - It is wonderful! I fit in somewhere, and it's a nice feeling.
DeleteIt's been awhile since I last had a Lean Cuisine pizza. :-) I love my husband's pita pizzas--low in calorie and easy to make. If only I can get my daughter to eat them . . . I don't really like burgers, to be honest. My husband does though!
I haven't read Delancey, but I've heard of the book. Probably through you if you reviewed it. :-)
Oh my gosh, your post makes me so hungry!!!
ReplyDeleteLola - I know what you mean. I'm hungry reading all these posts about food. :-)
DeleteI adore comfort food, too!
ReplyDeleteAnd aww, our reasons for blogging are almost exactly the same. :) I started mine as a type of public reading journal, too (I was sick and tired of forgetting the books I read!), but it's become so much more since discovering what a fantastic community there is. I couldn't imagine that I'd have kept up the blog without it. Even if I did, it wouldn't have been nearly as rewarding!
Shaina - Exactly! I hadn't realized there was such a thing as a blogging community when I began. It's much bigger now, but still full of amazing people.
DeletePizza sounds good also those brownies look divine!!
ReplyDeleteHeather | Random Redheaded Ramblings
Heather - I'm craving brownies now. :-) And pizza, actually. Haha
DeleteHmm, brownies!
ReplyDeleteOh I love too many foods haha, but I think my favourite is the Vietnamese dish Pho (which of course, my mom makes the best Pho ;) hahah) But I do love burgers too!
Also, agree! I love that blogging has allowed me to make so many new bookish friends and I have someone to ramble books with!
Cyn - I don't know if I have had Pho. If I have it's been a long time since. It sounds good from what I found on the internet about it!
DeleteBook blogging has introduced me to so many great people. And I love to talk about books. :-)
I too love all your favourite food, Wendy! They may not deemed to be healthy, but they do great to one's mind, lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said about being a bookblogger. To me, getting to know more about other bookbloggers and becoming friends is the best thing alongside with our sharing love for books and books recommendations. :)
Melody - Yes, good for the mind and they sure taste good. LOL
DeleteBook blogging has given me the chance to meet people from all over the world. I am glad I can call you my friend. :-)
I used to be Team Pizza, but then I discovered I love turkey burgers (or really, any kind of burger) better. Those brownies look tempting- my dessert of choice this week is biscotti. I love how crunchy it is.
ReplyDeleteI think the book blogging community is what keeps me around too- I doubt I'll ever run out of book recommendations if I keep at it, which to me is a plus.
~Litha Nelle
Litha Nelle - I haven't had a turkey burger, although I do eat ground turkey instead of beef often enough. Biscotti is good! I can understand why you like it. :-)
DeleteOh yes, my wish list and TBR collection is forever big thanks to my fellow book bloggers. :-)
I love your list of foods!! I also love pizza because of the melted cheese. Ice cream also made my list, I can't live without it!
ReplyDeleteKathy A - The cheese on the pizza is the best. I like to put extra cheese on too. Mmm! I love ice cream.
DeleteYou have definitely made me hungry with this post! You are never too old to love pizza!
ReplyDeleteCandid Cover - That's how I feel. Pizza is good at any age. :-)
DeleteButter and cinnamon! I can't say that would ever have occurred to me but I'm inclined to try it when I next have a wrap.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to have this community, and it's what I find most rewarding, too. We're a big group and there's so much diversity in tastes and backgrounds, you really learn a lot... and end up reading even more! I agree the understanding is great. Not that reading is niche but getting into the specifics only works with other readers, like any hobby.
Charlie - I hope you like it if you do try a cinnamon wrap. :-)
DeleteYes! We are quite a big group--and so varied. I love that about it, even though I can't keep up nearly as much as I'd like with everyone I might want to visit.
I would like to get one of those brownies right now! All your favorite foods - are mine too! Yum! And unhealthy. :-(
ReplyDeleteAthira - My mom brought brownies on her recent visit. They were so yummy! I hated that I had to share with my family.
DeleteOh my gosh lady, you are making me hungry! lol Those brownies look sooo good. I too love pizza, just plain cheese for me. And garlic knots. With ice cold coca-cola.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your take on book blogging, it is a wonderful thing. Like you mention, fellow book bloggers understand the love of literary works and the affect they can inspire in us readers.
Happy weekend :)
Naida - I wish I had a brownie right now. :-) My daughter likes cheese pizza, but even then she's so picky. Don't let there be a string of cheese hanging off or she won't touch it until it's gone. No matter how often we tell her it's just cheese, she won't believe us.
DeleteI love talking books with fellow book bloggers. We're a special group. :-)
Oh yes - the book blogging community is amazing. I just wish we could all have a big party one day and finally get to meet each other, go book shopping together and just hang out and talk about books. Wouldn't that be fun!
ReplyDeleteIliana - That would be so much fun! I've enjoyed meeting the few book bloggers I have met. I would love to meet more.
DeleteYour thoughts on the book blogging community totally hit home. Even though I've been neglecting my blog lately I refuse to give it up. You girls have been with me through so much that it feels like a family of sorts. Right down to those members that we lose track of eventually :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure my comments are showing up?
Stacy - It really does feel like a family, doesn't it? I think so too. I'm always so sad to see another book blogger go. I understand the reasons, but I still hate to lose them.
DeleteOh my goodness, we could totally eat together regularly and both be happy girls!
ReplyDeleteLisa - I would love that. :-)
