This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is the Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read. This list could be a mile long--or longer--if I let it. I will keep it to 10, but there are so many more . . .
The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi ~ Although I have had this on my shelf in awhile, I have still yet to read it. I know I will love it. She has a way of making me feel what her characters feel, and experience what they are going through.
Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin ~ One of the author's older novels I want to go back and read. I have loved everything I have read by her so far.
A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley ~ I love her writing. Kearsley has a way of drawing me in and making me feel like I am a part of her story.
Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, # 5) by Ilona Andrews ~ I love this series and hope to jump back into it one of these days!
River Marked (Mercy Thompson, # 6) by Patricia Briggs ~ Another case of me loving a series and needing to get back to it.
Dark Tide by Elizabeth Haynes - I hope to read everything this author has written. She's one of my favorite crime fiction writers.
China Dolls by Lisa See ~ One of my favorite historical fiction authors whose characters and stories pull at my heartstrings every time.
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen ~ And Sense and Sensibility. I have loved everything I have read by Austen so far.
Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1) by Jim Butcher ~ I am a big fan of the Dresden Files and have been wanting to try the authors more epic or high fantasy series.
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ~ Whether in fiction, nonfiction or at a speaking engagement, this woman wows me every time.

Many of these authors are new to me. I have never read anything by Jane Austen, but I am sure I would love any of those books if I did. I'm hoping to catch up on some Karen White and Vannetta Chapman this year.

Cheryl - I really like Karen White's writing style--and her settings. I need to read more of her books as well. Vannetta Chapman is new to me. I'll have to give her books a try! Thanks for stopping by, Cheryl!
DeleteMansfield Park is my least favorite of the Austen novels, but I hope you end up enjoying it. Sense and Sensibility is one of my favorites though. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAlicia - I hope I will like it too. I hope to read both--I want to read all of Austen eventually. I've loved just about everything of Austen's I have read so far. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteI really like Elizabeth Haynes! :-) Fab list. My TTT
ReplyDeleteChrissi - Me too! I love her books. :-) Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI love Lisa See and Jane Austen. Good luck catching up on their books. I went off the board this week and listed my favorite banned books since it is banned books week. My TTT Favorite Banned Books
ReplyDeleteAnne - Thank you! I wish I could take a reading vacation. :-) Thank you for visiting, Anne!
DeleteAmericanah is a must read!! I recently read Half of a Yellow Sun and was stunned by how she writes all over again. But nothing compares to the experience of reading Americanah.
ReplyDeletePriya - I am really looking forward to Americanah. I loved Half of a Yellow Sun. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteChina Dolls looks really promising! I am always on the search for more Asian lit.
ReplyDelete* TTT: To all the authors I follow on Twitter & the books I haven't read 🌷🌷🌷
Shealea - I love Lisa See's novels. I look forward to reading to China Dolls. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteThe Pearl that Broke It's Shell sounds interesting. I haven't read any of these authors yet, except maybe Jane Austin (if I read any of her books it was a long time ago).
ReplyDeleteBrooke - I really recommend Nadia Hashimi's books if you get the chance. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI haven't read Dark Tide and China Dolls, too. No wonder there's this saying about having too many books but so little time. ;)
ReplyDeleteMelody - Yes, way too many books and not enough time. :-) We have fun trying though, don't we? Thank you for visiting, Melody!
DeleteThe Kearsley and See are on my list. Do read those two Austens. Though I didn't like Mansfield Park much, I'd still recommend it. Americanah is excellent.
ReplyDeleteI haven't finished Philip Pullman's Sally Lockhart series, still to read the last. And I have plenty of Elizabeth Chadwick books still to get too including a number already on my shelves.
Charlie - I haven't yet read anything by Pullman or Chadwick, although I have an Elizabeth Chadwick on my TBR shelf--so I'll probably get to her first. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThe only one I've read is Mansfield Park and I really love it! Some people don't, because Fanny can come off as rather passive compared to Lizzie Bennett, but I feel she stands up for what she believes in (:
ReplyDeleteEustacia - I am glad to hear you loved Mansfield Park. Hopefully I will too! Thank you for visiting!
DeleteI haven't heard of any of the books on your list, but there are quite a few that seem pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT: https://thebookdutchesses.com/2018/09/25/ttt-46-books-by-my-favorite-authors-that-i-still-havent-read/
Isabelle - I've enjoyed the authors' previously work so have high hopes for these. :-) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteLisa See is the only one of those authors I've read and I need to read more of her work as well.
ReplyDeleteKathy - I want to read everything she's written. :-) Thank you for visiting!
DeleteDark Tide looks really good and the Briggs series made my list for the same reason. I love it but fell behind. Hope you make time for all of these in the near future.
ReplyDeleteBarb - I love Elizabeth Haynes' books and don't know why I haven't read Dark Tide yet. We need to catch up with Briggs' series! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI've only read Persuasion by Jane Austen, but I keep thinking I should check out more!

Lauren - I really liked Persuasion. It always takes me a few pages to adjust to Austen's writing, but once I do, I have loved her books. Hopefully I can get to the ones I haven't read yet sooner than later. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI've read the first book in both the Kate Daniels and the Mercy Thompson series, I'm so far behind. Ah, and the Jim Butcher series - I have the first book, but haven't read it. I need an intervention. :)
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Aymee - I have quite a bit of catch up to do with both of those series too. And when I think of all the other books by the two authors I want to read . . . LOL I think I need an intervention too! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI couldn't even begin to list all the books by fav authors that I haven't read. However, I have read Mansfield Park on your list. And I consider Elizabeth Haynes and Lisa See authors that I like a lot. Not that I've read the books you listed...LOL!
ReplyDeleteKay - My list is quite long too. Narrowing it down was hard. :-) Thanks for visiting!
DeleteAmericanah has been on my tbr for such a long time... really need to pick it up! I've read all of Jane Austen and have to say Mansfield Park is my least favorite. But even my least favorite Austen is still a great book! Enjoy working your way through the list.
ReplyDeleteJoAnn - Same here. I have a copy--just need to read it! Hopefully I will be able to get caught up someday--maybe if the authors slow down and bit and let me. Haha! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI'm behind on Susanna Kearsley's novels, too. And there are about five or six series that I'm seriously behind in as well. And the authors keep writing more books! I'll never catch up. :D
ReplyDeleteLark - I don't even want to count the number of series I am behind him. I keep starting new ones. LOL Thank you for visiting!
DeleteSeveral of these authors are new to me. Sense and Sensibility is wonderful, and I also really enjoyed Americanah.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - I probably would have read Sense and Sensibility sooner, but I wanted to get the movie out of my head first--it's stuck with me, which hasn't helped. LOL I will probably see the movie again after reading the book. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteIlona Andrews I've heard so many good things about, and Briggs too. I've read the first Mercy thompson but haven't gotten to the rest of the series.
ReplyDeleteGreg - I highly recommend Ilona Andrews' books! Thank you for visiting!
DeleteMansfield Park sadly fell flat for me compared to P&P. I hope you enjoy it more than I did!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT https://wp.me/p3ftwe-XX
Jazmin - I loved Pride and Prejudice. Nothing can compare to that. I have loved all the Austen novels I have read though for different reasons, and hopefully will enjoy Mansfield Park. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteThank you for mentioning the Codex Alera series! My son loves the Dresden Files books, but he prefers High Fantasy. I just asked him if he knew about this series, and he didn't. I think he's kind of excited. 📚✨
ReplyDeleteLa La - I hope your son enjoys the Codex Alera books! I hear they are very good. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteI need to read Amaricanah, too. I’ve only read 1 Adichie book, but I want to read all of them.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
AJ - I want to read all her books too. She's amazing. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteOf course, I think you need to hurry up and finish the Ilona Andrews and Patricia Briggs books :) I have a copy of A Desperate Fortune that I need to get to very soon.
ReplyDeleteCarole - I think I need to as well. :-) Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI wish my brain could pull them up but sadly--I haven't read fiction since I broke my wrist (July 26) 'cause I can't hold a book while laying in bed :( It's killin' me! sigh... I can only tell you the books are MANY! lol
ReplyDeleteDonna Marie - I'm sorry. That would make me crazy. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and there was a period of time when it was at its worst I couldn't hold a book without being in pain. I found ways to make it work though. I even bought a book holder to set on the table or bed (I would lay on my stomach) so I wouldn't have to use either wrist to hold the book. Not reading was not an option. Nowadays I often prop my e-reader or book up when reading. Especially during my lunch break at work when I'm also eating. That way I can do both at the same time. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteYeah, there are ways to read if I'm sitting up, but I have no time for fiction :( Life has been way too topsy-turvy for months :-/ Oh well!
DeleteDonna Marie - I can't even imagine. Not being able to read fiction would be like telling me not to breathe. It is what keeps me sane, especially these days with all the negativity in the air and as busy as I am at work and home. But that's just me.
DeleteIt's REALLY getting to me--that and not being able to do anything for me with writing or anything that "feeds" me in that way. It's been months of dealing with health with me and my father from hospitals, doctor visits, phone calls, medical records and all things related. I have another 3 weeks with this cast so I'm hoping it won't be too long with physical therapy before I can finally drive again or function more normally. Anyway, most of these things are temporary to different things but still--I'm missing a lit :-/
DeleteHopefully things will lighten up for you soon and you'll be able to resume some normality in your life. My thoughts are with your dad.
Deletethank you xoxo
DeleteBriggs and Andrews. Yes! So good. Hope you have fun catching up with them :)
ReplyDeleteAnna - I hope I will--no, I'm sure I will. :-) I love their books. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteI just recently read book 2, 3, and 4 of the Codex Alera and it's so awesome - I just need to read the last two to get caught up. I hope you like it. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren @ Always Me
Lauren - I am so glad to hear you love the Codex Alera books! I am looking forward to reading them. I think I will. :-) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI need to read something by Susana Kearsley period and the same with Ilona Andrews! And the same with Lisa See now that I think of it! I want to try Mansfield Park too. I've got Sense and Sensibility coming up and I'm hoping to at some point get all of the Austen books read.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - I think you would like Susana Kearsley's books. I just love Lisa See and Ilona Andrews. I hope you like them all if you try them! Thanks for visiting!
