Top Ten Tuesday: My Top Ten Most Anticipated Books Releasing In the First Half of 2022

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana at The Artsy Reader Girl.

A lot of new titles ended up on my wish list after last week's topic (Top Ten Books Read in 2021), and no doubt that will happen again with this week's: My Top Ten Most Anticipated Books Releasing In the First Half of 2022. I had such a hard time narrowing down the list to just 10. Reason I want to read this: I really enjoyed the first book in this mystery series with it's steampunk-esque flare. 

Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead (Finlay Donovan #2) by Elle Cosimano (Release Date: February 1, 2022) 

Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish.

On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Reason I want to read this: The first book in this series was so much fun to read! Yes, it can be over the top, but it's very funny and I just love Finlay and Vero.

Reason I want to read this: I love maps. And dark secrets. This novel sounds like it will be such an engaging read. 

The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James (Release Date: March 15, 2022)

Reason I want to read this: The author's name alone is enough to make me want to read this, but it does sound good too--a mix of mystery and perhaps the supernatural . . . I love how atmospheric this author's books are.

Four Aunties and a Wedding (Aunties #2) by Jesse Q. Sutanto (Release Date: March 29, 2022) 

The aunties are back, fiercer than ever and ready to handle any catastrophe--even the mafia--in this delightful and hilarious sequel by Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties.

Reason I want to read this: ~ So, maybe I haven't read the first book in the series yet, but I plan to! And I know I will love it. Just like I will love this one too.

Reason I want to read this: I read a novel years ago about a fictional female Russian sniper who was loosely based on the real life Mila Pavlichenko called Beautiful Assassin by Michael C. White. It triggered my fascination with that part of World War II's history. So, when I found out Kate Quinn's latest novel is based on Mila herself, well, let's just say I will definitely be reading The Diamond Eye.

Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li (Release Date: April 5, 2022) 

This was how things began: Boston on the cusp of fall, the Sackler Museum robbed of 23 pieces of priceless Chinese art. Even in this back room, dust catching the slant of golden, late-afternoon light, Will could hear the sirens. They sounded like a promise.

Reason I want to read this: I love a good heist story and this one appeals to me on that level. But I also am really interested in the cultural aspect as well. 

The Patron Saint of Second Chances by Christine Simon (Release Date: April 12, 2022)

Reason I want to read this: This sounds like the perfect heartfelt book I know will need this year.

The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas (Release Date: May 10, 2022)

Reason I want to read this: A familiar plot perhaps but there are so many ways the author can go with this, and I cannot resist finding out what secrets the hacienda holds. The novel sounds creepy and like a real page turner.

The Many Daughters of Afong Moy by Jamie Ford (Release Date: June 28, 2022)

 Reason I want to read this: I am so intrigued by this description! I need to know more about Dorothy and these memories of past lives she is having. I have a feeling this will be hard to put down.
