I considered posting covers with flowers or rain showers on them, but that seems an obvious April theme. My daughter suggested I post covers featuring shoes. And so, here you go! My Top Ten Tuesday topic is Books with Shoes On the Cover. Some of these I have read and others I haven't.
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie (translated by Ina Rilke)
Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison by Piper Kerman
Belong to Me by Marisa de los Santos
Blackbird House by Alice Hoffman
Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith
You Remind Me of Me by Dan Chaon
Dancing Shoes by Noel Streatfeild
The Surrogate by Louise Jensen
The Midnight Witch by Paula Brackston
The Sisters by Claire Douglas
Did you take part in this week's Top Ten Tuesday post? What theme did you come up with? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think.

Clever topic. I considered flowers or a spring theme but then opted for weirdly awful classic covers My TTT is here. Please visit and comment. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI think your choice of theme today was great fun. :-) Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteSuch a fun pick for this week's prompt. So many books with shoes... I love The Sisters and The Midnight Witch covers ππ

Susan - Yes! I tried to go with shoes that weren't attached to feet, although I think those were even more interesting in some cases. Thank you for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteStephanie - Thank you! She loves it when I use her ideas. :-)
DeleteGood choice! Covers with shoes on them always seem old-fashioned, but in a good way, to me. I love the covers you picked. My favorite is Belong to Me.

Jenni Elyse - I know what you mean about them seeming old-fashioned. It's a classic look (even if not classic books). Thank you for visiting!
DeleteOh this is clever indeed! I haven't read any of these and I'm trying to think of any other books with shoes but The Red Shoes that I've actually read...??? Thinking hard here!
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!

ReplyDeleteLark - Thank you. It was fun to put together.
DeleteWow. There are way more books with shoes on the cover than I thought there would be.
ReplyDeleteDeanna - Even more of people wearing shoes if I had decided to go that route! I'm not actually a shoe person, but I do like covers with shoes on them. :-) Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteInteresting. I wouldn't have thought that so many books had shoes on the covers.
ReplyDeleteMary - It was interesting to see! Many more included shoes on feet--those evidently are quire popular.
DeleteExcellent topic choice! I had no idea there were so many books with shoes on them!

Jo - Same here. :-) Thank you for visiting!
DeleteLoving your selection of books featuring shoes on the covers. My mind straightaway went to The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris.
ReplyDeleteFelicity - That sounds fun! I found a Dutch (I think) version with just the shoes on the cover, so it would work if I used that one. :-)
DeleteWhat a great choice, Wendy and Mouse. I am actually intrigued by a couple of these. I did read the Marisa de los Santos book and really liked it. I chose Lighthouses.
ReplyDeleteCarla - Lighthouses is a great choice--so many beautiful covers with lighthouses on them. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteShoes! How clever! I've read a few books with shoes on the cover, but sadly, I haven't read any of these.
ReplyDeleteKami - I haven't read all of these, but a few. Hopefully I will enjoy the ones I haven't gotten to someday. Your theme was a good one too! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteIt is funny how covers go in cycles and it seems that every cover in a genre is the same for a while.
ReplyDeleteHelen - They certainly follow similar themes sometimes, don't they? Thank you for visiting!
DeleteLove this topic! And love your choices. I want to read The Midnight Witch just based on the cover.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - Thank you! I haven't read that one yet but want to. Thank you for visiting!
